Hotel travellers put cleanliness ahead of security
American travellers rate cleanliness as the most important factor in selecting a hotel, a new survey has found.
According to the survey for Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, 43 per cent put cleanliness top of the wish list, while only 11 per cent cited security, which was probably not what they wanted to find out.
“It seems that more people are concerned about housekeeping than security,” said Jim Villa, a senior vice president and North American manager for Chubb’s Accident & Health business.
“Travellers should take safety precautions more seriously, and travel security should be higher on their checklist than cleanliness,” he added.
The survey also found that price and location were top factors for 23 per cent and 19 pecent of respectively.
Opinion Research Corporation questioned 1,000 participants in June 2011.
