It’s taken a year but Colombia’s “most stunning” Deep Blue is ready

After a year-long renovation, the opening date for Ecoteles Colombia's luxury Deep Blue hotel on the remote Caribbean island of Providencia has been set for November 1.

“Our luxurious renovations have taken over a year but the result is quite possibly one of the most stunning luxury hotels in Colombia,” says Christopher Hardyment, the company’s British joint owner.

“We are very confident that within a couple of years we will have established ourselves as one of the leading boutique hotels on Colombia’s coast.”

Deep Blue’s 14 rooms are have been renovated to the highest standards. The showcase rooms are the Luxury Suites, whose private infinity edged plunge pools have spectacular views towards the multi-coloured sea that surrounds Providencia Island.

“Providencia is a truly unique Caribbean Island – it’s rare to find a place so unspoilt and under-developed in the Caribbean these days,” says Jeffrey Lefke, who is working as a hotel consultant for Deep Blue.

“I’ve worked on hotel projects all over Central and South America - Deep Blue is certainly one of the most exciting and unique hotels I have worked with. Situated in the most desirable area of the island, Maracaibo Bay, Deep Blue will be the premier hotel in the San Andres Archipelago.”

Providencia Island is a remote Caribbean backwater with a population of just 5000 English speaking inhabitants. The locals are very welcoming, personable and extremely proud of their island paradise.

Excursions locally include scuba diving, deep sea fishing, boat trips around the archipelago, hiking and kayaking through the local National Park.
