New romantic getaway predicts first marriage proposal
The Wood Norton, a new luxury hotel in Worcestershire, gets ready to host its first Valentines, and staff are already predicting that the hotel will witness its first marriage proposal.
Back in 1907 when owned by European Royalty the building was the venue for the marriage of Princess Louise of Orleans – the Grandmother of the present King of Spain.
Love will be in the air at Norton Wood
On 29 November last year, The Wood Norton officially re-opened as a luxury hotel, and has already played host to two weddings, but has yet to see its first marriage proposal.
Says general manager Oliver Cooke: “We’ve had quite a few bookings now for the Thursday evening, and for the weekend. This is our first Valentines since the re-opening, and we’re all thinking that we may just see one of the guests getting down on one knee.”
The hotel, now under new ownership, spent £4m last year on a huge 6-month refurbishment project. A big focus of the project was restoring the historic feature rooms within the main hall.
Mr Cooke adds: “The results are fantastic. The bedrooms, restaurant, and the setting make The Wood Norton a truly romantic getaway. With its royal connections, the hotel is steeped in historic romance. It would be great to make our own piece of history, and play host to our very own Princess to be.”
