Profits hit a June high for London hotels
Hotels in London recorded a rarely achieved room occupancy of 90 per cent in June driving a year-on-year increase in profits of 14.6 per cent for that month.
The extremely high room occupancy levels in addition to a 12.8 pert cent increase in achieved average room rate to €188.16 resulted in a year-on-year growth in Revenue per Available Room of 16 per cent to €169.28, , according to the latest HotStats survey from TRI Hospitality Consulting.
June is traditionally a strong month for hotels in London which TRI attributes to an uplift in price and volume thanks to the Wimbledon tennis fortnight and complemented by commercial and leisure demand.
Leisure demand remains strong supported by a 14.4 per cent increase in retail sales by visitors from Western Europe, China and the Middle East.
In contrast, despite a six per cent increase in room occupancy in Paris to88.8 per cent, the average room rate declined by 7.2 per cent to €201.86, which left the French capital 0.4 per cent behind the same period in 2009.
